A portrait of two CIDA graduates

Sello studies and furthers his career

Sello Kgosimore is an auditor in a junior management position at DaimlerChrysler South Africa. He completed his BBA (Finance) degree at CIDA in 2003 and is currently busy with a bridging course at UNISA. This will equip him for Honours or MBL next year.

At DaimlerChrysler he is responsible for ensuring compliance of the dealer
network to the franchise agreement and to institute monetary penalties for non-compliance. He also investigates fraudulent activities, which may result in the termination of the franchise agreement.

”I find working as challenging as studying even though I think it brings more responsibilities and accountability,” he says.  “I couldn't have asked for anything more or better than what CIDA gave me as preparation for work and life in general.

“The one thing that I think everyone needs to know and acknowledge is the fact that CIDA is like any other institution in terms of academics, but it is the culture that made a huge difference to many of our lives.”

Salome wants to see change in her community

A conscientious student, Pontsho Salome Manamela, eagerly awaits her Project Management results, which will allow her to graduate in International Finance in the next few months.

Putting her theory to practice, she is a derivative settlements clerk in the Corporate and Investment Banking department at Standard Bank, where she has worked for three months.

Originally from Limpopo, Salome says “CIDA is all that South African families need.  I’ll make sure to use the knowledge I have and pass it on to someone else. I would like to see my community growing like other urban areas.”

For soft skills she relies on information from magazines, health and exercise tips from the Internet, and for entertainment, a good soccer game, especially when Kaizer Chiefs are winning.
