Where I Stay
This is how my room looks like at CIDA Park extension, a new place CIDA got that is next to CIDA Park. I share it with Thobile, one of my friends. I enjoy sharing a room with her because we understand each other. I was staying at CIDA Park last year and in February this year we were moved to this new CIDA residence. I used to stay with my uncle before moving to CIDA Park because my mother couldn’t afford to pay for my accommodation. My accommodation is now being paid by my sponsor, Cannon Collins Trust, for which I am grateful as I will now concentrate on my studies without any financial constraints.

My best friends
This is Thobile and Matshepo, and they are my friends. I spend most of my time with them because we are doing first year together. I met them last year when we were at CIDA Park Foundation College as we were in the same class. We study together and help each other where we lack in our subjects. They are always there for me in times of need. Thobile is from Durban in Kwazulu-Natal and Matshepo is from the North West Province. The three of us have sponsors. Thobile also had financial problems. She almost didn’t come back to school this year but fortunately she got sponsorship from the UK.

Time to Study
Here I was doing my Management course assignment in my room at CIDA Park Extension. I always go through the work I did during the day before I go to sleep every night. This makes it easier for me to understand it better before I have a lot of work piled up. My favorite subject is Accounting, which I have been doing since high school. When I write a test for accounting I always get above 75%. I am currently doing these subjects: Management, Operations Management, Mathematics Literacy, Economics, Accounting and Business English. I am struggling with Mathematics as I have never done it before but I am slowly getting grasp of it. I enjoy being in class everyday because what I’m doing at CIDA is what I have dreamed of since high school, that is being a Chartered Accountant.

Visiting Thokoza
I went to visit my cousin in a township called Thokoza. I attend the church in the photo when I visit, which I like a lot because the youth of this church are actively involved in community projects. My cousin sometimes helps me by buying food for me when my mom cannot afford it. I am really grateful to have him as I stay very far from home and he is my only support system in Johannesburg.
